This Javanese Language proficiency course in the receptive oral aspect is designed to enable students to listen to and comprehend news, stories, or academic lectures in Ngoko or Krama Javanese, and to rewrite and interpret their meaning. The course content includes Javanese EYD (standardized spelling system), Javanese pronunciation, and Javanese writing grammar. Lectures are conducted using lecture-based methods, discussions, and listening and rewriting exercises. Evaluation is carried out during each in-person session by reviewing students' written work, as well as through mid-term and final exams
Communicative Oral Javanese (IBJW212103) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Communicative Oral Javanese course is designed to help students recognize different levels of speech and the rules of Javanese language, enabling them to express themselves and respond verbally using standard Javanese coherently and correctly. The course content focuses on everyday conversation. Instruction is delivered in Javanese. The teaching methods emphasize oral practice, discussion, and presentations. Evaluations include independent assignments, group projects, mid-term exams, and final exams.
Introduction to Old Javanese (IBJW212104) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Introduction to Old Javanese Language is a compulsory course for Java Study Program students. In this introductory course students will be introduced to the Old Javanese
language, historical aspects, pre-history, the relationship between Old Javanese, Middle Javanese, and New Javanese. between Old Javanese, Middle Javanese, and New Javanese.
The lecture is conducted by presenting Old Javanese texts with easy to understand language. Whose language is easy to understand. After taking this course students are expected to understand the basic knowledge of and literature of Old Javanese which is useful for further
studies. Student evaluation is carried out through assignments in the form of analysis and analysis and translation exercises, insertion exams, and final exams.
Introduction to Javanese Linguistics (IBJW212105) - 3 SKS / 4,5 ECTS
ntroduction to Javanese Linguistics is designed to introduce students to the linguistic identity, target objects, and methods of studying linguistics, as well as the various fields and branches of linguistics and related topics. The learning outcome is for students to acquire sufficient knowledge of the general identity of language. The course content is delivered through lectures, discussions, and assignments. The language of instruction is Indonesian. Evaluation
includes post-tests and feedback at the end of each topic, as well as mid-term and final assessments. The grading breakdown consists of final exam (50%), mid-semester exam
(30%), and paper, daily assignments, and student activities (20%).
Introduction to Javanese Literature (IBJW212106) - 3 SKS / 4,5 ECTS
This course is a compulsory subject for students in the Javanese Literature Study Program. It aims to fulfill graduate competencies by enabling students to:

literary studies, including literary history, theory, and

their application.

Javanese for Non-Native Speakers (IBJW212138) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Javanese for Non-Native Speakers course provides basic knowledge of Javanese, starting with the introduction to the alphabet, pronunciation, and simple grammar (morphology and syntax). Upon completing this course, students will have a solid understanding and proficiency in both formal and informal Javanese.

Palembang Malay (IBJW212139) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Palembang Malay is an elective course designed to provide students with knowledge and skills related to the Palembang Malay language, enabling them to apply their knowledge to help preserve the language. Upon completing this course, students are expected to have a strong understanding of how to use Palembang Malay and be familiar with the community that speaks it.
The teaching methods include lectures, question-and-answer sessions, discussions, and exercises.

New Javanese Prose (IBJW212101) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The New Javanese Prose Text course is designed to help students read and understand Javanese prose texts, whether in Latin or Javanese script, and using either old or modern spelling. The course presents information in Javanese prose across different language varieties (ngoko, madya, and krama) with increasing levels of difficulty, allowing students to grasp the content correctly.
The course covers reading theory and practice, with basic and intermediate-level exercises.

Morpho-Syntax of Old Javanese (IBJW212209) - 3 SKS / 4,5 ECTS
Morpho-Syntax of Old Javanese is a compulsory course in the Javanese Literature Study Program. By taking the Morpho-Syntax of Old Javanese course, students will be able to research various aspects of morphology, syntax and texts in Old Javanese.

This course covers the definition of philology, the objects of study, manuscript repositories, general and specific objectives of philology, the relationship between philology and other fields of study, and the history of philology’s development in Europe and the Archipelago.

Macapat Songs (IBJW212240) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Tembang Macapat course is an elective course designed to enhance language, literature, and Javanese culture knowledge and skills through the medium of tembang Macapat. After completing this course, students are capable of composing two types of tembang Macapat and singing them correctly. Teaching methods include lectures, discussions, and practical singing of tembang Macapat. Student assessment includes weekly tembang Macapat composition assignments, midterm grades, and final grades.
Balinese Language (IBJW212241) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Balinese is an elective course in the Javanese Literature Study Program. The primary aim of the course is to introduce Balinese as a foundation for understanding narrative texts. Mastery of the Balinese language includes elements of phonology and morphology, as well as the comprehension of narratives that contain fairy tales and ethics, with both basic
and intermediate levels of difficulty.
Teaching methods include lectures, presentations, and independent assignments. Evaluation is based on daily assignments, mid-term exams, and final exams.
Madurese (IBJW212242) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Madurese is an elective course that provides knowledge of the Madurese language through both written and oral texts. The main objectives of the course are:
- to introduce students to the basics of grammar and linguistic properties of the Madurese language;
- to address issues of spelling and writing in the Madurese language;
- to introduce and explain the transcription system for oral sources into written texts;
- to train students to read and pronounce Madurese sentences correctly;
- to practice writing and transcribing Madurese sentences according to proper spelling rules;
- to foster group work and study while promoting an academic atmosphere.

New Javanese Poetry (IBJW212208) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The New Javanese Poetry course builds upon the New Javanese Prose course. The reading materials selected for this course are more complex than those in New Javanese Prose
Text and encompass various literary genres, including: babad (historical chronicles), wayang (puppet) stories, and piwulang (moral teachings), all presented in the form of macapat song
poems.
Teaching methods include lectures, presentations, discussions, and independent assignments. Evaluation is carried out through daily assignments, mid-term exams, and final exams.
Old Javanese Prose (IBJW212114) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Old Javanese Prose course is compulsory. In this course, students are guided to translate and understand Old Javanese prose texts, building on the knowledge of Old Javanese morphology and syntax gained in the Old Javanese Morpho-Syntax course. Through this course, students will develop the ability to translate Old Javanese prose texts. The learning method combines Student-Centered Learning (SCL) and Teacher-Centered Learning (TCL/STAR) approaches. The course is delivered through face-to-face lectures and discussions.

Sanskrit (IBJW212212) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Sanskrit course is a compulsory course that focuses on beginner-level Sanskrit grammar. This course aims to enable students to:
- Understand the grammatical system used in simple Sanskrit sentences;
- Comprehend narratives that include grammatical guidance through the use of vocabulary and grammar;
- Recognize the role and function of vocabulary and grammar as representations of Sanskrit grammar in practice.

The Dutch course is a compulsory course for the Javanese Literature Study Program. This course is offered because the ability to read Dutch remains essential for accessing archival
sources in Dutch that are valuable for Javanese literature research.
The general objective of the basic-level Dutch Language course is to enable students to read and understand sentence fragments and text excerpts in Dutch.
The methods used in this course include lectures, discussions, and exercises using guidebooks. The medium of instruction is Indonesian. Evaluation is based on class activities, mid-term exams, and final exams.
Morphology (IBJW212116) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Morphology course is a compulsory course in the Javanese Literature Department. This course is designed to meet the graduate competencies, which include: (1) the ability to identify and apply concepts and theories to address issues related to literary discourse, language, and Nusantara manuscripts in the context of societal dynamics; (2) the ability to foster cultural reflections on community life phenomena.

Paleography (IBJW212118) - 3 SKS / 4,5 ECTS
The Paleography course is a continuation of the Introduction to Philology course. Upon completing this course, students are expected to:
- Understand and comprehend paleography.
- Understand and classify scripts, recognizing the characteristics of Nusantara scripts and their writing phases.
- Understand the history and development of scripts in Indonesia, including the influence of three major world cultures.
- Understand and analyze Nusantara scripts, such as consonants, vowels, other signs, numbers, spelling, with a focus on Old Javanese, New Javanese, Arabic, Pegon, Balinese, Batak, Lampung, Bugis, and Makasar.
- Comprehend both printed and handwritten texts. The teaching methods used include lectures, discussions, and the practice of transliterating manuscripts. Student evaluation

and literature. This course provides both theoretical knowledge and practical skills for presenting ceremonial events in Javanese. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding and the ability to critically analyze the appropriate and correct use of Javanese in various social and ceremonial contexts. The goal of the course is for students to recognize the skills and knowledge required of a presenter and how to apply them in real-world situations. Lectures are delivered through a combination of lectures, discussions, practical exercises, and presentations. Javanese Ritual Traditions (IBJW212145) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Javanese Ritual Traditions course is an elective offered in the Javanese Literature Study Program. It is designed to equip graduates with the following competencies:
- The ability to recognize, understand, analyze, describe, and identify all topics covered in the Procedures course.
- The capacity to contribute to the preservation maintenance, and utilization of ancestral cultural heritage practices.

Javanese Literary Studies (IBJW212221) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
This course is a compulsory requirement for the Javanese Literature Studies Program. It aims to fulfill the program’s graduate competencies, including mastery of the material forms of Javanese literature, such as poetry, prose, and drama; understanding foundational literary theories, particularly in the context of analyzing Javanese literature; and the ability to apply structural analysis theories to analyze Javanese literary works, including poetry, prose, and drama.
The course focuses on the study and analysis of Javanese literary works in the forms of poetry, prose, and drama. Structural theory serves as the primary analytical framework; however, alternative approaches to analysis are also welcomed. The course employs a Student-Centered Learning (SCL) approach, which encourages students to leverage their potential and accommodates diverse intelligences. The Codicology course is part of Philology, focusing on the physical condition of manuscripts. This course aims to equip students with the ability to differentiate between the concepts
of manuscripts and texts, master knowledge about manuscripts and codes, understand the process of manuscript creation, and describe the elements contained within a text.

Javanese Orchestra (IBJW212143) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Javanese orchestra is a course designed to equip students with specialized skills in the art of Javanese orchestra (traditional Javanese gamelan music). The course focuses on introducing the fundamentals of gamelan (a traditional Javanese ensemble of musical instruments) music and providing examples of simple compositions suitable for beginners. Upon completing this course, students are expected to understand the role of gamelan in Javanese society, the function of each gamelan instrument within a gending (a Javanese musical composition), the patterns of gamelan compositions, and the techniques for playing gamelan instruments in a gending. This course uses Indonesian as the language of instruction. Evaluation methods include mid-term exams, final exams, and practical performance assessments.
Historical Literature (IBJW212223) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Historical Literature course is designed to deepen students' understanding of historical literature from the Old Javanese, Middle Javanese, and New Javanese periods and their development over time. A comprehensive introduction to and understanding of historical literature texts from ancient to modern periods will help students engage more effectively
with lectures, particularly those with a strong interest in literary studies. This course aims to provide students with an understanding of historical literature from the Old, Middle,
and New Javanese periods, knowledge of various genres within historical literature, and insights into historical figures from Javanese kingdoms.

Problematics of Javanese Literature (IBJW212124) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Problematics of Javanese Literature is a compulsory course in the Javanese Literature Study Program. This course aims to equip students with the ability to understand the scope and
limitations of issues in Javanese literature, identify problems within the field, and propose alternative solutions to address these challenges.
The course employs various methods, including lectures, discussions, assignments, recitations, and problem-solving approaches (Problem-Based Learning or PBL) aligned with the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) method. Middle Javanese Prose (IBJW212125) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
Middle Javanese Prose is a compulsory course. This course aims to enable students to recognize, understand, and translate Middle Javanese prose texts, addressing any challenges that may arise in the process.

Text Criticism (IBJW212126) - 3 SKS / 4,5 ECTS
The Text Criticism course is a compulsory subject that introduces the etymology, history, and methodologies of philological research, with a particular focus on text criticism as a crucial stage in presenting and editing texts.
The course aims to achieve the following outcomes: students will be familiar with locations where manuscripts are stored, master the methods of philological research, analyze, critique, and interpret textual problems before presenting edits, and master the chosen editing methods to critically present texts as part of an accountable editing process.

Semantics (IBJW212127) - 3 SKS / 4,5 ECTS
Semantics is a compulsory subject. This course aims to equip students with a broad understanding of semantics and its application in Nusantara languages, particularly Javanese.
Upon completing this course, students are expected to: 1) gain a general understanding of semantics, 2) develop skills in interpreting linguistic units and applying semantic theory to
oral forms of Nusantara languages, especially Javanese, 3) identify and formulate issues related to the meanings in Nusantara languages, particularly Javanese, 4) analyze linguistic phenomena in both oral and written forms of Nusantara languages, especially Javanese, 5) develop an appreciation for linguistic meanings and their changes over time, 6) build sensitivity toward the language community's environmental influences on linguistic meaning development, and 7) foster openness and innovation in accessing and applying knowledge about the science of meaning. This course provides elementary linguistic knowledge covering basic aspects such as phonetics and phonology, morphology, and semantics, all presented as an introductory

Suluk Literature (IBJW212148) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Suluk Literature course is an elective in the Javanese Literature Study Program. Suluk refers to a genre of Javanese literature often associated with mystical or spiritual teachings,
typically expressed in poetic or prose forms. It conveys philosophical reflections, spiritual guidance, and ethical teachings, commonly drawing on Sufi influences or Javanese spiritual traditions.
After taking this course, students are expected to: a) know and understand the scope and limitations of Suluk Literature, b) identify the characteristics of Suluk Literature, and c)
comprehend the theories and methods used to study Suluk Literature.

Javanese Culture (IBJW212149) - 2 SKS / 3 ECTS
The Javanese Culture course is an elective in the Javanese Literature Study Program. This course aims to enable students to know, understand, preserve, appreciate, and further develop
their knowledge of Javanese culture.
Teaching methods include lectures, discussions, demonstrations, simulations, observations, and practical sessions conducted at various Javanese cultural centers. Evaluation is carried out through three main components: Final Semester Exam, Mid-Semester Exam, and assignments
in the form of papers. Additional assessment is based on active participation in discussions and discipline in attending lectures.
Creative Oral Javanese (IBJW212229) - 3 SKS / 4,5 ECTS
The Creative Oral Javanese course builds upon the foundation provided in the Productive Oral Javanese course and is part of the Javanese Language Mastery program. This course aims to
enable students to express themselves fluently, respond effectively, and demonstrate creativity in oral communication using standard Javanese.

The course aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of the differences between Sanskrit and Old Javanese, as well as the structure and grammar of Sanskrit. In
terms of intellectual skills, students will learn to read Sanskrit texts written in Devanagari script, transliterate these texts into Latin script, effectively use a Sanskrit dictionary, and
