Yogyakarta – A series of Successful Learner Training for New Students (PPSMB) at Universitas Gadjah Mada was conducted from August 1, 2022, to August 13, 2022. The schedule included University-level PPSMB on August 1-2, 2022, Faculty/School-level PPSMB on August 3-4, 2022, Soft Skills PPSMB on August 5-6, 2022, and the final part, Action Plan, held from August 8 to August 13, 2022. Within this series, the PPSMB Kampung Budaya was conducted as part of the Faculty/School-level PPSMB. At the opening of PPSMB Kampung Budaya, the Student Gamelan Group, Gamasutra, took part in enlivening the event on Wednesday (August 3rd) at R. M. Margono Djojohadikusumo Building, 1st Floor.

Gamasutra had the opportunity to perform three gendings, namely Gending Gati Hendrakusuma Laras Pelog Pathet 6, Playon Pelog 5, and Gangsaran. The students who participated in Gamasutra were Rafael Raga (Kendang, Class of 2021), Diky Pringgo (Demung, Class of 2020), Vina Diah (Demung, Class of 2020), Amabilita (Saron, Class of 2020), Rajane (Saron, Class of 2021), I’in Dwi (Saron, Class of 2020), Anggraini Puspita (Saron, Class of 2020), Maria Ratnasari (Peking, Class of 2020), Affan Akbar (Bonang Barung, Class of 2020), Putra Sukaca (Snare, Class of 2020), Taruna (Snare, Class of 2019), Mila (Kenong, Class of 2021), Monica (Kethuk, Class of 2021), Ayumna Mutmainah (Slenthem, Class of 2020), Muhammad Ikhsan (Kempul, Class of 2020), Harti Mulia (Gong, Class of 2020), and Yulian Pamungkas (Bedhug, Class of 2020).

Gamasutra accompanied the event from the opening speeches until the arrival of the new students. Their performance added solemnity to the occasion.

“We were enthusiastic, happy, and proud to participate in enlivening the PPSMB Kampung Budaya, especially since it has been a long time since we performed offline due to the pandemic. The most memorable part was when we accompanied the new students entering the venue with the gending Gati for about an hour. It was tiring but satisfying!” said Ayumna Mutmainah.
